Why I Turned Down a Big Business Opportunity

December 2019 I turned down one of the biggest business opportunities to date. I was asked to contribute and write several chapters for a nutrition textbook … umm, dream come true for a Holistic Nutritionist. I immediately said yes and told my husband, this was going to be my “big break”. After weeks of negotiating back and forth with the organization, and receiving my target compensation, I turned the opportunity down. I had this sinking feeling in my gut (hello intuition!) that this was not a good fit for me. Now over a month later I am so glad that I listened to my gut and turned down this opportunity.

Never in a million years did I think I would turn down the opportunity to write nutrition chapters in a text book, receive my target compensation, and receive credit via my name and Lean and Green Body®. Surely if you asked me in my twenties I would have jumped at the offer. Now approaching my mid-thirties… and truly finding myself and my groove …I am so glad I did not accept the offer.

So why am I telling you this???

I know you expected a blog on what to eat, a workout tip or trick or a must try recipe… but as promised this year is all about me becoming more authentic with you and sharing!

I want to share my experiences with you. I want to show you that it is okay to turn down great opportunities … better ones will present themselves, I promise. It’s okay to turn down a great pay day… never sell yourself short. It’s 100% okay to follow your intuition. It’s okay to not completely understand why you need to turn an opportunity, but know that something in your gut is speaking to you.

Listen to your intuition, it will not lead you astray.

When I was in my early 20’s I did not listen to my gut, and I took the long way to learn some painful lessons. Now in my 30’s I am very in tune with my intuition, and allow it to guide me.

When in doubt, always believe that something wonderful is just around the corner.

Is there a time when you did not listen to you intuition and wish you did?? Comment below, I would love to hear from you! xx

Create and Cultivate Recap

I can not believe that it has bean a WHOLE MONTH since my create and cultivate weekend in Miami. This was my first Create and Cultivate event…and I’m totally hooked! I went to the event solo, unsure what to expect but prepared for a long day. I ended up meeting some lovely ladies on the way into the event, and we ended up hanging out for most of the day …and still stay in contact! This event was definitely geared towards female entrepreneurs, female leaders, creators and those who want to empower others and share their shine … pretty much everything I stand for. I had to ability to meet some of the speakers and the founder of Create and Cultivate, Jaclyn Johnson.

It was so inspiring to be around so many women going after the same thing I am. Not once did I feel competition, jealously, or envy. Instead I felt empowered and ready! So many women are going after the same (or similar) dream I am: to create a life we love, to create a business we are so passionate about and share our journey and our shine with our greater community.

One of the highlights for me was meeting keynote speaker Karolina Kurkova and getting her nutrition advice. If you are unfamiliar with Karolina…first of all where have you been lol… check out her IG page for more info on this beautiful inspiring Mama. Karolina is a supermodel, turned Mama, turned entrepreneur. She recently co-founded Gryph & IvyRose and is about to take children wellness by storm. One of the best moments of my mini chat with this bombshell was her nutrition advice, ”in order to be good, you have to be a little bit bad”. This was in reference to her thinking that “it’s okay to eat French fries occasionally, or whatever your thing is.”

Create and Cultivate gave me the freedom to connect with other like minded women from around the country, in an open and free environment. I went to this event solo, and would do so again because it forced me to open up and make connections. The speakers were vast and varied and discussed everything from how to get a business loan, how to start your business, beauty, fashion, motherhood, self image, and much more. I would recommend this event to any women who is looking to take the next step in their life, and looking to step into their power. I already can not wait for my next Create and Cultivate event!!
