Pre-Wedding Diet

I have been in the health and wellness industry for over a decade, and I always said I would not be “one of those brides”. I would not go on a crazy wedding diet and give in to all the stereotypically pre-wedding craziness. Yet here I am days away from getting married, and I have given in, just a little. It all started about two weeks before the wedding; I cut out all ‘traditional carbohydrates,’ and since I am gluten free there weren’t many. I eliminated quinoa, quinoa pasta, rice, and gluten free bread. The only item I was left with was gluten free oatmeal (I think I’m addicted to it). I began to clean my gluten free and dairy free diet up by further eliminating wine, sugar and processed foods. There would be No more of my beloved RX Bars (www.rxbar.com) or Butter Chardonnay. It was time to get serious.

Just to be clear, I do not need to lose weight to squeeze into my wedding dress...my dress is actually being taken in. I cleaned up my diet in order to feel my best. Most people have no idea how amazing their body is designed to feel. I want glowing skin and vibrant energy on my wedding day, and I truly believe both of those come from what you eat.

So what was left? I have been eating clean organic protein, mainly chicken and fish, raw or steamed organic vegetables (currently on a carrot kick), and huge salads. I have one bowl of gluten free oatmeal with fresh organic raspberries or blueberries in it daily. I have also continued with my Vega Protein shakes (myvega.com) either early in the morning or post workout.

A typical day...

6:00am - Vega Protein Shake in the car

10:00am - Gluten Free Oatmeal with berries

1:00pm - Large arugula salad with fresh raw vegetables and 4 oz clean protein

6:00pm - 3 cups of steamed vegetables and 4 oz clean protein

*If I get hungry in the afternoon I’ll add in an organic raw juice for a little afternoon boost*

This might sound a bit boring...but I’m telling you it’s amazing! I feel so much better...and being a Holistic Nutritionist I thought my diet was already pretty good. My body feels good, it feels clean, my skin is glowing, and I have tons of energy to get all my last minute planning accomplished! Honestly, I haven’t felt this good in a while...I’m loving it!
